Planned Alumnara AI Level 1 option · 30 study hours

Use AI to research, plan and deliver project work

AI can help turn an unclear objective into questions, compare a set of supplied sources or challenge a project plan. It is most useful when the human defines the outcome, keeps a traceable evidence base and decides what the project will actually do.

For beginner and non-technical learners using AI to support research, prioritisation, planning and non-routine project work.

A useful finding without an unsupported promise

This fictional example shows how a small observation can become an oversized claim. The flawed AI-style draft was written for this guide. It is not a recording of a real AI test or a published research finding.

01 / Start with the source

The information you have

Fictional project note: Four volunteers in one office tried a shared handover checklist for one week. Three said the handovers felt clearer. No timings were recorded. Other teams did not take part.

02 / Question the draft

A draft with mistakes

Research proves that shared checklists save every team two hours a week.

Written to illustrate a possible AI mistake. Do not use this version.

03 / Make your checks

What needs correcting?

  • Check who took part: four volunteers in one office, not every team.
  • Check what was measured: three people reported clearer handovers. There are no time measurements to support “two hours”.
  • Keep the one-week limit visible. The note does not establish a lasting improvement or show that the checklist caused it.
  • Separate a possible next step from a finding. A wider trial could be considered, but this note does not approve one.

04 / Keep it accurate

A checked version

In this one-week trial, three of four volunteers in one office said handovers felt clearer when using a shared checklist. The note does not show whether it saved time or whether other teams would have the same experience.

Take this into your next task. Match the size of your conclusion to the evidence. A limited finding can help someone decide what to investigate next without becoming a promise about everyone.

Define the outcome before collecting answers

Start with the decision, deliverable or question the work needs to support. Record the audience, scope, deadline, constraints and what good evidence would look like. AI can help reveal ambiguity by proposing sub-questions, but the project owner chooses which questions matter.

Without a clear frame, fast generation creates more material rather than more understanding. Agree what is out of scope and what would cause the plan to change. That boundary makes later summaries and recommendations easier to test.

Build a source-aware research process

Use AI to suggest search terms, compare documents you are permitted to supply, or extract a consistent set of questions from a source pack. Do not treat generated references as evidence. Open the original source, identify its author and date, and confirm that it directly supports the statement you plan to use.

Compare sources with different perspectives and record important disagreement. Check whether the information is current enough for the decision. A summary should preserve caveats and uncertainty, not collapse them into a false consensus.

Plan milestones, dependencies and risks

Once the outcome is clear, AI can challenge a draft work breakdown, identify possible dependencies or turn approved tasks into a consistent status format. The team still estimates effort, assigns owners and decides priority. Generated dates and resource assumptions must be checked against reality.

Ask what could make the plan fail, then convert relevant concerns into a risk log with owner, likelihood, impact and response. Keep a decision log for material changes. This turns AI from an invisible planner into one input within a transparent project process.

What the planned Alumnara pathway will practise

This option is planned as a 30-hour application pathway after the Level 1 fundamentals core. Learners will frame research questions, compare and verify sources, organise milestones, surface dependencies, maintain risk and decision logs, and communicate checked progress.

The route will not treat a longer answer as better research or promise that AI automatically saves time. Learners will be expected to explain the evidence, assumptions and human judgement behind the final project recommendation.

Human judgement stays in control

Research and project checks that stay human

  • Authority, date and direct relevance of every material source.
  • Scope, priorities and acceptance criteria for the work.
  • Realistic effort, dependencies, permissions and resources.
  • Ownership of risks, changes and stakeholder communication.
  • The final recommendation and any consequential decision.
